DE HAR TATT MINE DEKORASJONER / THEY HAVE TAKEN MY TRINKETS
Video - 4 min 2021. The first video in the project “GENIUS LOCI“.
A poetic journey through a dark landscape, visually inspired by science fiction, black metal and "Perseverance"'s videos from Mars.
As a tribute to, and exploration of old animation techniques, the landscape is not computer-generated, but rather built in in plaster, clay, stone, textile and sand. As a lightning source I used a projector that light various colours and textures onto the landskap and I also use smoke to enhance the effect of the light. The project is an examination in the use of light as a narrative force. For me its a bit about going back to the the beginning, because in film it is all about the light, that’s how it started. Light in film and video is for me the «Genius Loci» - The spirit of the place.
De har tatt mine dekorasjoner/ They have taken my trinkets is a collaborative project with the composer Espen Kluge (music, lyrics), the text is performed by Roar Kjølv Jenssen. The project has been supported by Stavanger Kommune.
